Stone's First Movie

Sunday, June 6, 2010 - Last night we took Stone to his very first movie. I wanted to put it on the blog because I was trying to remember what movie we first took Hunter and Brooke to see. Hunters first movie at the theater was Cars. I remember he stood up through nearly the entire movie. I even remember what theater we took him to. Mike and I both remember it pretty vividly. Brooke, on the other hand, I just can't remember and it's really bugging me. I did some researching online last night for animated movies that have been out over the last two years. And I've come to the conclusion that it was probably Shrek the Third. Maybe it was even Monsters Vs. Aliens (I know that was the older twos first 3D movie. I actually keep movie stubs so I found those in my box.)

We decided to stop at McDonald's first for a little playtime and some dinner before the movie. I brought my camera because I wanted to take a picture of Stone inside the theater. He did have to sit at the edge of the seat to keep it from bouncing back.

But I realized ten years from now, I would not remember for the life of me what movie we took him to see. So, while the movie was showing I remembered the giant movie posters they have outside the theater. THAT would be my documentation! So here it is:

Next to the Shrek poster was the Iron Man 2 poster and Stone insisted I take his picture with it too. So I did. How can you tell that adorable face no???

Stone's 2nd Birthday

Saturday, 09 January 2010 12:07 PM
by Bonnie

Saturday January 9, 2010 - Stone celebrated his second birthday on Saturday, November 21st (I know, I'm a little behind on my blogs but better late than never I always say).

We had his party at Clay's Restaurant which is a very cool place for the kids. They have horses, deer, goats, sheep, ducks and even an emu. They even have feed machines so that the kids can feed the animals right out of their hands. And they have a huge sandbox for the kids to play. It was pretty cool the night of Stone's party, and it was late due to my school schedule. So even in the dark, the kids had a great time feeding the animals and being able to let loose and play all bundled up.

Clay's has a really neat (and heated) party room so everyone was able to eat and have cake and ice-cream in a comfortable atmosphere. We had a pretty good turnout and a combination of friends, family and neighbors.

We decided not to open gifts at the party, but at home just with the family. Stone racked up on a few of his favorite toys from Yo Gabba Gabba!

Happy birthday baby boy! You've grown up so fast! I thank God for you every day!

Stone’s Fun Day

Friday, 04 September 2009 06:24 PM
by bonnie

Every Thursday, Stone attends Children’s Fun Day at Cypress Bible Church. It gives not only Mommy a break, but gives him a little social time. There they play, eat lunch, take a nap and just have little kid time. He’s too little to start preschool (they have to be 2 and he misses the cutoff by 2 1/2 months) so this is a great prerequisite. Brooke attended CFD the year before she started preschool and I think it was great for her too. Anyway here are a few pictures of Stone from his first day at CFD this past Thursday.

Easter Egg Hunt at CTR

Thursday, 09 April 2009 01:21 PM
by Bonnie

This past Tuesday the kids had their Easter egg hunt at school. The parents don’t get to attend this event, but they do get to send 12 plastic eggs filled with candy taped shut with each child. This year I decided to buy the eggs and candy myself and then let the kids actually fill them. It went better than I thought. Normally I just do it all myself because I don’t have the patience to sit and watch them struggle to put the candy in and then try to put the plastic egg back together. But I have to say they did pretty well with it and were really excited to do their own eggs.

I don’t have any pictures of this event other than when they got home with their baskets full. As soon as I said, “Okay that’s it” boy they TORE into those eggs! Well, we had some tape tearing issues so I had to assist with most of that and BE SURE most of the tape ended up on my couch! Oh the joy of having kids! :) But aren’t they CUTE????

I didn’t want Stone to feel left out, so he got to eat candy too. :)

Stone's First Haircut - October 10th, 2008

Sunday, 26 October 2008 09:37 AM
by Coose

We decided it was time for Stone to lose his "messy" look. His hair was growing out in the back and over his ears on the sides. So we decided to take him in for his first haircut. He did pretty good sitting in the chair for a while. I did my best to try and keep him distracted with snacks and a bottle. But you could tell after about five minutes, he was through with the whole sitting still thing. Cynthia does a really good job with the kids. She moves fast and does an excellent job giving us what we want with their cuts. That particular night, she cut Hunter's hair for us too. He had sibling pictures that next week at school, so we thought we'd get him a trim while we were there. Cynthia cut Stone's hair for us at no charge! What a deal! And she put his hair trimmings in this cute little envelope that has the date of his cut, where we got it cut and who cut it. Perfect for his baby book when I finally get a chance to do it. Here's a few pictures of the milestone event:

And here is the end result (isn't he a cutie pie?)!!!

The Crib

Saturday, 27 March 2004 05:25 PM
by Coose

It took a while, but when Bonnie was pregnant with Hunter, I decided to build a crib, instead of buying one.  We thought we were going to have a few kids, and I liked the idea of creating a little heirloom of sorts.

Built from rough sawn white hard maple, it took about 60 hours to fully plane the lumber and build the crib.  Mostly because of all the stinkin' slats.  There was a LOT of slats to cut on this one.

Anyway…
