Monday July 5, 2010 – So we spent the weekend down in Galveston. Sunday turned out to be a gorgeous day!! We decided before we headed back home to hit the beach. But before that, we made a stop at Sea Wolf Park. Neither Mike nor I had been there since we were kids. So we took the tour of the USS Cavalla (the WW II submarine) and the USS Stewart (the destroyer escort that was donated to Sea Wolf Park in 1972). Again, just wanted to post a few pictures here.

Sister Hazel at Moody Gardens 4th of July Celebration (Part 1)

DSC07123

Monday July 5, 2010 – We decided to celebrate the 4th of July in Galveston this year. We took the kids to a show at Moody Gardens. The 71’s (they are actually a cover band from Houston), Sister Hazel and Kris Allen were set to perform. We had tickets for the lawn but due to Hurricane Alex hitting the gulf earlier last week, they moved the show inside the convention center. Turned out to be good for us because the general admission seating was just as good as the people who paid $50+ for their tickets.

The kids had a great time and did pretty well considering it was NOT a concert for them. I think Stone enjoyed himself the most. When the band came on, he just sat there, mesmerized. He even clapped when each song was over. I know someday when I tell him what his first concert was he’s going to say, “Sister Who?” We didn’t stay for Kris Allen, we didn’t really intend to. We went mostly to see Sister Hazel. Mike idolizes Ken Block and they really put on a great show. We even got to meet Ken after the show was over.

Just wanted to post a few pictures here. Had a great weekend and didn’t want to forget it.

I tried to take pictures of the bands but my little point and shoot Sony is not made for that. I REALLY need a better camera.

Picking Blueberries

Friday, 25 June 2010 11:20 AM

Friday, June 25, 2010 - Back at the beginning of the summer, Tricia and I took the kids to a nearby blueberry farm called Chmielewski's Blueberry Farm. We started out early to avoid the crowds AND the afternoon heat. We were probably there a little over an hour.

DSC07032

We picked just over a pound and half of blueberries. We had no idea there was a farm so close (literally just down the freeway), and the kids had a great time filling their buckets. There was also a cage with bunnies for the kids to pet. Brooke (especially) had a field day petting the bunnies!

When we got home, Brooke and I washed them to put them in the container and into the fridge. She is really the only person other than me that eats blueberries. But she's discovered she likes her Cheerios better now with fresh blueberries!

Photo Mosaics

by coose

Well, I was making my wife a birthday present in 2005, and I tried making something instead of buying something.  So I created some photo-mosaics and created a shadow box.  I’m no pro when it comes to this, but here’s what I came up with.

It’s a little hard to see, but those are all little pictures from our photo album.  Click to make the image bigger and see if you can see it a little better.  As we had only been married for a couple of years, the photo album wasn’t huge yet, and there are some duplicates.

Placed in a shadowbox with a ton of crap from Hobby Lobby, this is what resulted:

Donuts With Dad 2010

Thursday, 08 April 2010 06:16 AM
by Coose

It’s that time of year again.  Donuts with Dad.  Since Fathers Day falls outside of the school year, they have a special day for fathers in April at our preschool.  Brooke got to sit next to her BFF Emily, and next to her boyfriend Tyler.  Of course, she got über shy and wouldn’t talk to anyone or eat any donuts.  But, she made this for me, which I think is cute.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 2010

Sunday, 21 March 2010 08:59 AM
by bonnie

Sunday, March 21, 2010 - Wednesday we took the kids out to the Rodeo! This is Stone's second rodeo but boy did he really enjoy this one.

First we hit the petting zoo. Llamas, deer, pigs, goats - plenty of livestock for the kids to check out and pet. I think there were even some chickens.

Stone plopped down and said "Picture!"

Next we headed over to see more livestock.

Pony rides are always a big hit! The line was SUPER long, but this is the thing Brooke looks forward to the most and she says this is her favorite thing to do. So we waited - probably over 40 minutes. Makes for good photo ops...

It was such a beautiful day that we didn't spend much time inside. Next was the carnival. Last year Brooke was not tall enough to ride many of the big kids rides. This year she was. The kids rode the ferris wheel, the big (and small for Stone) slide, the Aladdin ride and Stone and daddy rode the rollercoaster for the little kids. We blew through 150 ride tickets in no time flat!! Hunter and Brooke even tried their hand at a few games. Brooke won two! That's my girl!!

Love these pictures! Mutton bustin' is a new event in the rodeo arena. They take 4 and 5 year olds and put them on sheep. They ride as far as they can across the grounds without falling off. It's hilarious!! Some of the kids fall right off and some of them of them actually make it all the way across. I would love for Brooke or Hunter to actually do this, but for now this will have to suffice:

We took the kids into the stadium to watch the rodeo this year! I think they enjoyed it. Hunter seemed to be engaged in everything going on. His favorite event was the bull riding and asked questions about everything. Gary Allan performed that night and we did stay for a little of his show. Brooke screamed "Can we go home now?" though the whole concert. (I think it was a little loud for her.) Stone was on my lap and kept turning around saying "Turn it off. Turn it off." Oh the joys of having kids! I'm already looking forward to next year but I consider the trip this year a huge success!

TballParade001

Sunday, March 13, 2010 - Last Saturday was opening weekend for Hunter's tball team. Boy did those boys have a great time! Friday night we got together and decorated the truck for the Parade. The boys played and got to know each other while the moms and dads did the work.

TballParade004  TballParade003  TballParade002 TballParade006

Saturday morning we all got up early and headed to Coach Brad's house. Here's Hunter in full uniform ready to tackle t-ball for the first time in his short life:

The boys piled into the truck and got ready to ride in the parade. The moms provided breakfast for the boys, whistles and noise makers and authentic Braves face paint!

TballParade007  TballParade008

Here's a few shots of the parade! Hunter had a great time and was excited Daddy got to ride with him!

After the parade was over, the team had to go line up on a field with the other 81 teams for Opening Ceremonies. Our boys were great. It was a long time just waiting for all the teams to arrive. These boys were ready to get the show on the road!!

TballParade018  TballParade017  TballParade019

Wow!! You all should have seen our boys go!! They were amazing! All of the parents were THRILLED watching them play as a team.

Hunter in the dugout getting mentally prepared for the big game and Mike's creative shirt:

     TballParade026

Hunter at bat - got on base every time! So proud of how well he did considering it was his first time to play! Last inning of the game, Hunter was playing second base and the ball popped up and hit him in the nose! He was a trooper and didn't cry even though his nose was bleeding! What a TOUGH Brave!!

  TballParade024

They managed to get 5 outs. What a great game! Brave's Win!!! Last picture is Coach Brad telling them how awesome they played! We're looking forward to a great season! Go Braves!!

TballParade025

(I have to thank Joyce our team mom for letting me steal some of the pictures from her blog! She did a great job capturing the day for those of us who had to chase two year olds around!)

Family Trip to Florida January 2010

Sunday, 24 January 2010 09:57 AM
by Bonnie

So we finally did it. We took all three kids on a plane ride to Florida.

[More Click here to read all about it and SEE ALL OF THE PICTURES]

Mike's Uncle Paul got married in St. Petersburg the first weekend in January. So, we decided to attend the wedding and just make a vacation out of it and visit a certain Mouse while we were there. (Butch, Wendy, Corey and Casey also attended but they decided to drive to Florida). We flew out New Years Day and stayed with Mike's mom in Spring Hill. The older two did well on the plane ride. They sat and read, colored, Hunter played his DS. Stone, well he's a two year old and acted as such. We didn't buy him a seat so he was on my lap and Mike's lap the entire flight. The whole back and forth thing got old but I think Stone did pretty well considering there wasn't much room to move around.

Me and the kids finally got to meet Mike's grandmother Vi and his other Uncle John (who looks like Kevin Spacey by the way) and his daughter Claire. We spent the Saturday before the wedding at Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park checking out the animals and the manatees, which is supposedly the big draw and ironically I don't have one picture of them. It was a beautiful day but a little cold.

Sunday January 3rd was Paul and Jane's wedding.

The hotel was beautiful and I felt like we were treated like royalty. The ceremony was short and out on the balcony.  So again, it was VERY cold. This is a shot of the hotel the next morning before we left. And yes, it's pink! (Brooke was thrilled!)

I danced a LOT and the kids always have no problems getting out on the dance floor. They are naturals like their mama.

And again, we met a lot of Mike's side of the family - Paul and his new wife Jane, Paul's daughter Rochelle, Aunt Ceil, and John's sons Kyle and David.

I can't say enough about the hotel. They really catered to the kids during the reception. One of the waiters brought some paper and colors for the kids so they wouldn't be too bored. The waiters also brought fruit cups for them while the appetizers were being served. They even brought sparkling grape juice in champagne glasses for the kids to have during the toast.

There are SO many pictures from this part of the trip. But I wanted to post some from the reception because Brooke picked up the camera and started taking pictures. I think it's interesting to see the world from a 4-year-olds perspective.

Finally Monday gets here and we're off to Disney World! But not before we checked out the beach! The hotel still had Christmas decorations up so we took some time to take a few more pictures before we left.

 Florida060

We didn't get all checked into the hotel in Orlando until mid-afternoon. But it was worth the wait. The hotel was amazing (in a juvenile kind of way). We stayed at the All Star Movie Resort and boy was it awesome.

  Florida077

The court yard of the hotel had these ginormous Toy Story characters. Every time we would walk by them Stone would scream "See Buzz-year, see Buzz year!"

Our first stop was Disney Hollywood Studios. Because we stayed at the resort, we got to take advantage of their special late hours. We were there until 11 p.m. soaking it all in - oh yeah, and freezing our tails off! I tried to take pictures of everything we did, but sometimes that just wasn't possible. We did the Star Wars Star tour, we did the Muppet 3D Show, we saw the Osborne Family Specticle of Dancing Lights, the kids danced some some of the Disney Characters at the Playhouse Disney live on stage...Mike and I rode the Hollywood Tower of Terror and the Aerosmith Rollercoaster, which both ROCKED!!

Tuesday we headed to Magic Kingdom! Casey got his haircut for the first time at a barbershop inside the park. (I didn't get a picture but he did get mouse ears!)

The castle in real life is unbelievable. The pictures you see of it don't do the REAL thing justice. It was beautiful!! And all the Christmas decorations were still up. We spent an entire day at Magic Kingdom so we did a LOT. There was a ton of stuff the kids could do. We rode Peter Pan's Flight, which I thought was SO COOL for a kids ride. The kids rode a merry go round which they always love to do. We rode "It's a Small World", The Haunted Mansion (Mike and Hunter rode this again after lunch), we met Woody and Jessie from Toy Story 2, we rode an Aladdin flying carpet ride, we saw the Swiss Family Robinson house (which was a huge tree - very cool). We caught a parade as we were crossing the park and saw lots of characters we hadn't yet seen, including the Disney princesses and Mickey himself! We went into Tomorrowland and Mike and the kids did Stitch's Great Escape. Next we rode the train over to Mickey and Minnie's house and met them in person. This was also the night that Brooke and I got our picture taken with Aerial! I think it was the highlight for both of us! We stayed until the park closed that night so we could see the fireworks show! It was a long, but unbelievable day!

This was so cute. We stopped at the Sword and the Stone and we told Hunter the story about how only one person could pull the sword out. He still can't figure out why he couldn't pull it out and what we'll do if we go back to the park and the sword is gone!

Here are a few pictures from the parade we caught crossing the park. I actually got emotional just seeing all this - it was truly overwhelming!

These are the pictures of Mickey Mouse's house and then our meeting he and Minnie.

These are the pictures of Brooke and Aerial and myself. We're going to frame some of these for Brooke's room! :)

The castle was truly amazing and these pictures just don't do it justice!

This is Stone in his "Buzz year" hat from the shop in the hotel. We didn't buy it but thought it was funny.

Day three: we're off to Animal Kingdom and got to spend a few hours at Epcot!

And this is how we started off the day - cold and not in very good moods (see Stone on the ground not wanting to take his picture!). Lucky for them, the day was pretty much all about them. There was so much to do there, but there was a rollercoaster that the adults got to ride. Below is a picture off the internet and it was called Expedition Everest and it was VERY cool!

  image

Off we went to the Kilimanjaro Safari. 500 acres that is home to some 1700 animals representing 250 different species throughout the park. The jeep that we rode didn't really slow down long enough to allow good pictures. But here are a few I did take:

Next we took a train ride to the other side of the park to see a 3-D movie.

The movie was called It's Tough to Be A Bug. It was in the Tree of Life which is a sculpted 14 story, 50 foot wide tree. 325 animals are carved into the bark of the tree and it also houses the 3D theater. It's the main tree that you see as you're walking into the park. I've posted a picture of it above.

From there we left and headed over to Epcot. There aren't many pictures of the few hours we were there because it had been a long day and I was tired of taking pictures. It was cold and we saw much of Epcot in the dark. I told Mike on our next trip to Disney, we'll have to start at Epcot and see it in the day light. We started with the Seas with Nemo and Friends. You ride in a giant clam and it takes you through the story of the adventures Nemo faced.

We didn't really do much after this. It was SO cold and everyone was hungry. So we headed over to China for dinner. From there we did a little shopping and then got our seats for the fireworks show. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to go back and see what Epcot has to offer in the daylight.

We got back to our hotel and walked in on the weirdest thing. Brooke's (stuffed) penguin was sitting on the bed with the remote control watching TV, her (stuffed) dog had gotten into the toilet paper and little Brooke (Brooke's baby doll) was missing. We couldn't find her anywhere.

After searching the hotel room, we located little Brooke. Apparently this is something that house cleaning does to be funny. They had tied up the window drapes as a swing and little Brooke was sitting in the window.

So Thursday morning before we left we headed to Downtown Disney to do a little shopping. We literally had about an hour and it was back to the airport to head home.

Again, what I did see of Downtown Disney was AMAZING and I can't wait to go back and see it all. We literally only got to hit two shops while we were there. One them being a HUGE Lego store. We didn't buy anything but probably could have spent all day there.

And then my little princess asked to have her picture taken with another Disney princess. We passed a huge statue of Cinderella on our way out.

The flight home was pretty uneventful. We got to the airport and had just enough time to eat before we got on the plane. The flight back was a full one, but the seat next to me was empty. Getting Stone to actually sit in it was virtually impossible, but again, he is only two!

We took over 550 pictures over the course of the seven day trip! It was truly an AMAZING experience and it was really neat to see Disney for the first time with my children! I hope they had as much fun as I did.

Mancuso Christmas 2009

Saturday, 09 January 2010 01:58 PM
by Bonnie

Saturday January 9, 2010 - We had such a great Christmas season this year from start to finish. I can't possibly post every picture that I took because I would never get anything else done. But I will do my best to post the best pictures and the highlights from December.

The season began with our family tradition of cutting down our Christmas tree at the High Star Christmas tree farm. Every year since Mike and I were married we have cut down a fresh tree. The last two years, Butch and Wendy have brought their family along to enjoy the day with us. This year was cold, rainy and muddy but the kids have so much fun no one even seems to notice what the weather is doing.

Here is a picture of each of the kids "helping Daddy" cut down the tree:

Even Corey and Casey (and Uncle Butch) got in on the cutting action:

The tree gets loaded onto a wagon and they haul it (and us) up to the front to the tree shaker where they shake all the dead needles off and wrap the tree in the netting. I took a few pictures as we were waiting for our tree.

Next was putting up the tree and decorating it. I won't go into the problems we had finding a Christmas tree stand, but let's just say it finally got put up after many nights of sitting in a broken stand in the kitchen. Pictures of that wouldn't be interesting but I just wanted to document it for future reference. :)

Also, I learned I'm not very patient when it comes to letting my kids put ornaments on the tree. And it's not that they wanted to put every ornament on the same branch. I'm not anal about them being spread out evenly and filling every space on the tree. It was more of the one after the other, hooking ornament after ornament and not being able to keep up with how fast they wanted to put them up. I have two big boxes of ornaments and we can't possibly put them ALL up every year. Luckily, there were no major breakages in the ornaments and Brooke was promised she could be the one to put the star on the top this year (I let Hunter take it down, but don't tell Brooke - our secret). :)

We took the kids to have their picture taken with Santa at Willowbrook Mall. This is actually the first time in my children's life that I have been with them to sit with Santa. Don't ask me why - just has never worked out. Anyway, the picture turned out really great!!

ChristmasBlog055

So the anticipation of Christmas Eve finally arrived. All the gifts were wrapped and under the tree. It turned out that it wasn't even a late night as I had spent most of the week staying up a little bit each night wrapping. I couldn't wait to see the looks on their faces as the sun arose and brought them downstairs to see if Santa paid them each a visit...

Cute picture of them first thing Christmas morning:

I'm surprised at how few pictures I took Christmas morning. I remember in years past thinking "Did I really need to take a picture of them opening EACH gift?" I must have had that in mind this year because I know I had the video camera rolling more often this time. Brooke was starting to come down with something, so she was really subdued. She's usually the one who gets excited and she was just showing no emotion (turns out she had a major sinus infection with double ear infections - we had to take her to the doctor that Sunday to try and get her better. Poor baby was miserable!)

And the after math:

Next was Christmas Day and the day after at Grandma and Grandpa's Hebert's house for more gifts and more celebrating with Uncle Greg and Aunt Michelle and their family:

Every year we take a picture of all the grandkids together at my parents house. From left to right in the back is Cody (Dana's boyfriends son), Austin, Devin, Courtney, Jessie (all my brother Greg's kids and step kids) and then Brooke, Stone and Hunter in the front.

Stone's 2nd Birthday

Saturday, 09 January 2010 12:07 PM
by Bonnie

Saturday January 9, 2010 - Stone celebrated his second birthday on Saturday, November 21st (I know, I'm a little behind on my blogs but better late than never I always say).

We had his party at Clay's Restaurant which is a very cool place for the kids. They have horses, deer, goats, sheep, ducks and even an emu. They even have feed machines so that the kids can feed the animals right out of their hands. And they have a huge sandbox for the kids to play. It was pretty cool the night of Stone's party, and it was late due to my school schedule. So even in the dark, the kids had a great time feeding the animals and being able to let loose and play all bundled up.

Clay's has a really neat (and heated) party room so everyone was able to eat and have cake and ice-cream in a comfortable atmosphere. We had a pretty good turnout and a combination of friends, family and neighbors.

We decided not to open gifts at the party, but at home just with the family. Stone racked up on a few of his favorite toys from Yo Gabba Gabba!

Happy birthday baby boy! You've grown up so fast! I thank God for you every day!
