Sunday, June 6, 2010 - Most people are doing this a year or so after their daughter is born. Brooke didn't START growing her hair until after her first birthday. We've always talked about cutting Brooke's hair but just never had the heart. Well today we did it. The same girl at Visible Changes that gave Hunter and Stone their first haircuts cut Brooke's hair this afternoon.

We brought the video camera along as well, but here are a few of the many pictures I took of our Boo Boo finally getting her first haircut.

So here she is! She looks so adorable, if I do say so myself. She likes it too! And here's a picture of Brooke handing Cynthia her tip for a job well done! It took Cynthia less than 5 minutes to straighten Brooke's hair (and she asked Brooke if she could do it). I was so jealous.

And of course, what would my blog be if I didn't post pictures of my other two children acting silly and doing everything they can to distract me during this momentous occasion...

Brooke's End of Year Program and Last Day of School

Monday, 31 May 2010 11:27 AM
by bonnie

Saturday May 29, 2010 - Brooke's end of the year program at the Christ the Redeemer was last Thursday. The name of the program was The Fish are Gonna Bite! They sang Peter, James and John in a Sailboat and Fish are Gonna Bite. Hard to believe next year, Brooke will be graduating from preschool. Seems like just yesterday that little girl was leaving us for her FIRST day on her own...

Here are a few pictures from the program:

Brooke's last day of school was the week after her program. Tuesday they had water day and Thursday was their last day and ice cream social! Stone and I went and had ice cream with Brooke. She was sad to say good bye to her friends and Ms. Jennifer. But we've planned plenty of play dates and getting together over the summer. Here are a few pictures from the last day of school. This is Brooke enjoying her ice cream and playing with the silly bands Emily gave her. We are going to miss seeing Emily next year. She and Brooke are BFF's.

Stone wanted in on the picture action so he said to take pictures of him with his alter-ego, Buzz Lightyear. And of course we had to take one last picture with Ms. Jennifer. Boy her smile is big in this picture, isn't it?

Mothers Tea at Christ the Redeemer 2010

Wednesday, 12 May 2010 08:41 AM
by bonnie

Wednesday May 12, 2010 - Last Thursday was the Mother's Tea at Brooke's school. There is a whole ceremony in the church where the kids file in with their classes and place a carnation at the foot of the statue of Mary. One of the old (meaning previous) teachers returns to sing the Hail Mary every year. It's a very special event for us moms, as well as teaching the children about the Mother of God. It was especially great for me this year since I didn't have to bring Stone with me (he was at mother's day out) so I could focus all my time and energy on Brooke. We don't get one on one time very often these days, so it was nice that it was just her and I.

Next everyone moves to the community center where the kids sit with mom and have "tea". It was really punch and cupcakes, but I don't think anyone cared!

Each mom had a bag to open especially decorated by their child. And inside was 'breakfast in bed'...

Here are some pictures of Brooke and her friends and one of just her and I.

We stopped to get Stone at school and as I was pulling out of the driveway, my sweet girl decided to crash. What a great day!!

Donuts With Dad 2010

Thursday, 08 April 2010 06:16 AM
by Coose

It’s that time of year again.  Donuts with Dad.  Since Fathers Day falls outside of the school year, they have a special day for fathers in April at our preschool.  Brooke got to sit next to her BFF Emily, and next to her boyfriend Tyler.  Of course, she got über shy and wouldn’t talk to anyone or eat any donuts.  But, she made this for me, which I think is cute.

Brooke's Christmas Party 2009

Friday, 18 December 2009 10:42 AM
by Bonnie

Friday December 18, 2009 - Yesterday was Brooke's last day of school for the year, so they had their Christmas party. They did a cute little rendition of Jingle Bells and "One Little, Two Little, Three Little Ornaments". I will post the video here later but here are a few pics from the festivities. They decorated Nutter Butters and made them into reindeers with icing, pretzels and M&M's while they snacked on popcorn and goldfish.

Here are some pictures of Brooke with her friends Emily, Kayleigh, Gabriella and her teacher Ms. Jennifer:

Brooke's Thanksgiving Luncheon 2009

Saturday, 28 November 2009 06:38 AM
by bonnie

Saturday November 28th, 2009 - Brooke had her Thanksgiving luncheon at school last week. The meal is provided by the school for the kids, which is chicken nuggets, peaches, corn, rolls, juice and a cookie for dessert. The teachers have a potluck and they all sit down and get to eat lunch while the parents take care of and cater to the kids.

This was the first year I was able to go ALONE and not push a stroller. So it was nice to be able to spend one on one time with her.

Each child had on an Indian headdress that represented their Indian tribe. Ms. Jennifer used their favorite activity, favorite color and favorite animal as their name. Brooke's was Drawing Purple Bird which is spot on!!!

Here are a few pictures of Brooke with her friends: Gabriella, Kayleigh and Emily:

Fall Fun Day 2009

Friday, 30 October 2009 06:03 AM
by bonnie

October 29, 2009 - This year at Brooke's school, instead of having the costume parade, they decided to have a fall fun day instead. Each of the kids made a Halloween t-shirt and participated in fun activities in their classrooms. I think the only thing they didn't get to do that was planned was the hay ride due to the crappy weather we had. My girlfriend Carol passed along pictures of Brooke and her class.

Sucking My Thumb

Monday, 26 October 2009 04:27 PM
by coose

Yeah…my daughter’s artwork for the day.  She says this is me sucking my thumb.  I wonder if this is what I really look like to her.  What is that on my face?  Freckles?  Pimples?  Also not sure why I have so many ears.  Also the other picture is me (the blue one), Bonnie (the green one), Brooke (the purple one) and Stone (the orange one).  “Little Brooke” is the one floating in the air.  I don’t know why she writes mirror imaged like this.  Notice that Hunter is mysteriously missing from the image.  I wonder if they will ever learn to like each other.

All About Brooke

Friday, 23 October 2009 10:35 PM
by Coose

We went to  Brooke’s open house at her school and this is a story she wrote about herself.  The picture is Brooke holding a flower on the left, and she said it’s a monster on the right.  Not really sure why she drew a monster, but it is a little creative.
